About EdiPeek
EdiPeek is a free set of tools for reading raw EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) messages directly in your web browser. It turns the dense, machine-oriented text of an EDI file into a clear, labeled breakdown that a human can actually understand.
Why it exists
Anyone who works with EDI knows the problem: you open a file expecting data and instead get a wall of text full of asterisks, tildes, and codes. Existing tools are usually expensive enterprise software or require uploading sensitive trading-partner data to a server. EdiPeek was built to solve both problems at once: free to use, and completely private.
How it works
- Paste a raw EDI message into the viewer.
- The tool auto-detects the delimiters and parses every segment and element.
- You get two views: a full segment breakdown for technical detail, and a plain-English business summary that explains what the transaction actually means.
Privacy first
All parsing happens locally in your browser. The contents of your EDI files are never uploaded to any server. This makes EdiPeek safe to use even with confidential purchase orders, invoices, healthcare claims, or customs declarations. You can read more in our privacy policy.
What it supports
EdiPeek covers both major EDI standards:
- ANSI X12 — the North American standard. Supply chain (850, 856, 810), healthcare (837, 835, 270/271), finance (820), and transportation (204, 210, 214).
- UN/EDIFACT — the international standard used across Europe and worldwide. ORDERS, INVOIC, DESADV, IFTMIN, CUSDEC, REMADV and more.
Who builds it
EdiPeek is an independent project built and maintained by a business systems analyst with hands-on experience in ERP, supply chain integration, and EDI/API work. It is not affiliated with any standards body such as ASC X12 or UN/CEFACT.
